Mercedes-Benz was founded when Karl Benz created the first petrol-powered automobile, which was patented in 1886. Towards the end of the 1930s, Mercedes-Benz released the 260 D model, which was the first diesel passenger vehicle in the world. In the 1950s, Mercedes-Benz was a leading automobile producer and launched the 190 and 300 SL models. In the 1970s, the G and S-Class were launched. And in 1987, the company produced the 100 D 631 series, followed closely by the W201 Series 2, which was a compact car with a sedan body. During the '90s, Mercedes launched the G-Class wagons and a variety of SUVs. Also, the C-class, E-Class and S-Class models came out. During the early 2000s, Mercedes integrated a wide range of engineering and mechanical innovations such as the BlueTec system and reduced CO2 emissions.
